It’s all my fault

You know when things aren’t going your way when you’ve set the alarm to snooze and then sleep right through the snooze alarm.

You know when things aren’t going your way when you’ve misplaced a quotation for a customer. You know when thing’s aren’t going your way when said customer walks through the door first thing of a morning wanting his items and you have to bill him.

So I wake up half the country phoning around trying desperately to get invoiced prices from our suppliers. I wake my boss up phoning him asking if he can work all the quotation all over again. After much phoning and much awakening of people who generally don’t take too kindly to been awoken by the sound of a panicking sales person I arrive at a figure. The problem is it’s not remotely similar to the one I recall quoting to the customer. The customer knows this. I then having battled with the telephone, the calculator and an irate boss have to make an “executive” decision as to what to charge this customer.

The next hour or so while waiting for my boss to get into work was not pleasant knowing he wouldn’t be happy I’d had reduced his profit margin to pretty much zero.

You know when things aren’t going your way even before you hit the snooze alarm as for some unknown reason you’ve left your alarm-clock-come-phone somewhere amongst the pile of papers on your bed-side table and not -as you usually do – next to the pillow in easy reach…
